Job Search Tip of the Week #3

The countdown of the top 10 job search tips recommended by our expert team at RochesterWorks! continues, and this week’s piece of advice is:

#3 Be open to any and all possibilities and opportunities for re-employment

In Richard Wiseman’s book “The Luck Factor” the author describes the difference between lucky and unlucky people based on an experiment he conducted.  He found that lucky people were, in part, more open to the world around them.  Don’t limit yourself by simply focusing on your past or previous positions.  Consider all of your skills, interests, unique strengths and capabilities,  Rapid change due to advances in technology is creating new occupations and jobs all of the time.  It is important for unemployed job seekers to consider transitional and survival jobs and careers, and alternative employment opportunities like temporary or contract work in order to maintain their skills and marketability in today’s job market.
