We’re nearing the end of our countdown of the top 10 job search tips recommended by our expert team at RochesterWorks!. This week’s piece of advice is:

#2 Preparation and practice pays off

The Boy Scout motto “Always be prepared” applies to job search, indeed all of life!  Prepare for the job search process by arming yourself with cutting edge tools and practice the techniques of the trade.   

Research employers and find out as much as you can about their culture and business challenges in order to tailor your marketing approach. 

Practice your sales pitch.  The person who best communicates how they can meet the employer’s needs, first in a resume and then in an interview, will have the best shot at the job. 

Don’t be a lazy job seeker! The quality of your job search tools and techniques (or lack of ) will reflect upon your potential work as an employee.
