Honor those who’ve made a difference in your life and donate to provide an Interview Kit to help people make a positive first impression that lasts a lifetime!
Over the course of 2014 as our team has supported people through their job search, we’ve seen a need that we cannot meet!
Talented people in our community are struggling to purchase things that are necessary to succeed in a job interview. To meet this need, we are dedicating all of the funds received during ROC the Day on December 2nd to provide Interview Kits for those that need it most!
We want to fill in the gap and give someone the opportunity to make a positive first impression in the New Year! One donation of $50 will provide an Interview Kit that includes hygiene items, an interview clothing gift certificate, and a hair cut voucher. Click here to ROC the Day.
Top Tips from Our Team on How to Make a Positive First Impression
“We’ve all heard it before, ‘you only have one chance to make a good first impression’. In a job interview, it can set the tone for the entire interview so you want to be sure you are doing the right things when first meeting a potential hiring manager. It’s a proven fact that the first information people get anything—a person, place, idea—influences the way they process the subsequent information they receive. “
“Hiring Managers can decide within five minutes if someone will be a good fit to their organization. How is this possible? Non-verbal communication, body language and speech (tone / pace) are all examples of how you are making a first and landing impression with a potential employer. A great exercise is to practice answering the question ‘Tell me about yourself?’ in front of the mirror and notice your facial expression, body language and speech patterns. It is often the first question asked to start an interview.”
- Be positive! Don’t let a negative comment lead to a negative first impression.
- Pay attention to body language, tone of voice. They can play a huge role into how you are perceived.
- Be on time! Do I really need to say this? Unfortunately, yes! Get there early and then check in 10-15 minutes early.
- Look professional!
- Smile! Have a good handshake and use good eye contact.
- Be prepared with a good opening response that shows your confidence, enthusiasm and how you want to help the company succeed.
